Constant voltage LED strip is designed for convenient installation and customization. Taking a 12V LED strip as an example: typically, it consists of multiple groups of three LEDs and one resistor connected in series, ensuring that each group operates at 12V. It can be cut and extended during the installation process. This type of LED strip provides numerous installation solutions and optimization methods for illumination and decoration projects.
However, the constant voltage LED strip also has some shortcomings to be improved in use: Disadvantages: Heat problem: the constant voltage drive mode is not sensitive to the heat emission of the LED itself. Therefore, under long-time high brightness operation, the LED temperature may be too high, affecting the service life. Uneven brightness: for long led strips, the constant voltage driving mode may lead to uneven brightness of the power supply voltage at different nodes, resulting in inconsistent brightness. High requirements for power supply: constant voltage drive mode requires stable power supply and can provide enough voltage to meet the voltage requirements of LED strips.
In response to the above question, Gosens has optimized the design of the constant voltage LED strip by adding a current-limiting IC to each group of the LED strip, enhancing its performance and safety. Constant voltage constant current LED strip offers the following advantages:
Stable brightness: The constant voltage constant current driving mode ensures consistent brightness of the LED strip under different operating conditions. Whether there are fluctuations in the power supply voltage or variations in LED operating temperature, the brightness remains stable.
Long lifespan: The constant voltage constant current driving mode limits the LED to operate within the rated current range, preventing premature lifespan reduction caused by exceeding the rated current. Compared to other driving methods, constant voltage constant current driving can extend the lifespan of the LED.
Simplified design: The constant voltage constant current driving mode simplifies circuit design, requiring only a properly configured constant voltage constant current driver. This reduces system complexity and cost.
Convenient installation: The constant voltage constant current LED strip can be easily cut and extended according to specific installation requirements, adapting to different installation scenarios. This flexibility makes installation simple and convenient.
